on the Parker Brothers Cannibis Case

Update on the Parker Brothers Cannibis Case: a letter written by Ukiah Sativa Morrison disappeared, somehow, from the archives at MediaNews' Ukiah Daily Journal, where it originally appeared. For those who are interested in reading the piece, we obtained a copy, which is here.

Update from the Parker Brothers Legal Defense Fund:
MEDICAL MARIJUANA RAID! UKIAH PATIENTS ARRESTED!
Something stinks in Ukiah and it’s not Cannabis. Less than two weeks after former DA Norm Vroman’s death a search warrant was obtained for the Parkers' residences. These patients are facing serious criminal charges for legal actions. Mendocino County’s law enforcement's bust and prosecution of the Parker brothers for exercising patients rights under California‘s Cannabis laws, brings this important issue to the full light of day! This case deals with patients' right to grow pure, organic, medicinal marijuana in their own back yard, doctors' right to practice medicine and determine the needs of their patients, and the recognition of the need of patients to have concentrates, edibles and tinctures.
THE PARKER BROTHERS NEED YOUR HELP! This is an important case at a critical time. Your help is needed to raise money for the legal costs in this case. Every patient, caregiver, and collective will be affected by the newly hostile climate towards the medical cannabis community . . .  A victory in this case will help cement the legitimacy of Medical Cannabis growing. You can support the Parker Brother’s Legal Defense Fund by making contributions, helping with the organizing of events in your community, and supporting these brothers in need. If you are able to help financially, please make your checks or money orders payable to Edie Lerman, Esq. (note "for Parker Defense Legal Fund" on the contribution) and mail to: Edie Lerman, Post Office Box 802, Mendocino, California 95460.
For more information on upcoming events, or to volunteer, please call (707) 367-7509 or visit: http://www.myspace.com/parkerbrothersdefensefund. Direct emails to: parkerbrothersdefensefund@yahoo.com. Thank you!

Brothers plead not guilty to pot charges
BEN BROWN The Daily Journal

Slow Loc@l . . .
Preliminary hearing for Mark and Memo Parker is at 1:30 today, before Judge Nelson. New attorney for Ukiah's black cannibis captives -- out on bail since Tuesday -- is J. David Nick from Pier 5.
Why the Garden Street brothers were arrested when and how they were -- and why the bail was so high -- is a matter of some speculation: see, especially, a comment signed Mary Weather at K.C.'s Blog at the UDJ.
Also of interest: Mike A'Dair in the Willits News: Broin, Allman lean opposite directions at pot debate. (Sheriff Broin, because he's serving as Sheriff, isn't free to speak about some things. At this point, it would be a relief to many if the Sheriff candidates would revive Tony Craver's long-time pledge to protect Mendocino County -- especially the Parker brothers -- from the federales, flip a coin, and be done with it.)
Back to the ballot: we're (still) voting for Broin for Sheriff: just whose Jonestown jive came down on the Parker brothers -- who own land in pricey westside Ukiah, and are likely the county's only black farmers -- ain't exactly clear . . .

Cannibis captive Memo Parker -- the brothers are African-American, were raised in Covelo -- said on Saturday that some of the official info (which has appeared in the newspapers) is incorrect.
Pre-preliminary hearing for the Parker brothers is at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, at the Courthouse in Ukiah. Stay tuned.
More on the Garden Street brothers at the PressDemocrat, where many reader comments are posted, with Glenda Anderson's account from last Wednesday (18 October).

    Help Memo Parker:
Memo Parker -- and his brother Mark -- will be arraigned tomorrow morning at 8:30 am at the Ukiah Courthouse, before Judge Mayfield (likely in Department 1).
It would be helpful if people attend the arraignment.
The Parkers are being held on $150,000 bond each.
Some details (not mentioned: the brothers, unlike most residents of the county seat, are not "white"):
